The Tallahassee/Leon County Council on Culture & Arts is partnering with the Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation and Apalachee Audubon Society to bring to Tallahassee a mural that explores the theme of connection through the lens of the Florida Wildlife Corridor.
COCA is seeking experienced regional or local artists to be considered for the large-scale mural project.
$13,200 is allocated to the project in artist stipends, with materials and equipment to be included. It is important you read the prospectus carefully before submitting your application.
This Call to Artists will be broken into two phases:
Phase 1: Request for Qualifications (RFQ)
Phase 2: Request for Proposals (RFP)
This mural is intended to represent the broader significance of the Corridor across Florida, and beyond. Artists are encouraged to interpret the Corridor as both a physical and/or symbolic network that connects people, wildlife, water, working lands, communities, cultures, and landscapes.
Artists may explore concepts of both connection and disconnection, provided the final work communicates a sense of possibility, resilience, and collective responsibility for Florida’s future. In accordance with the partnership and collaboration with the Apalachee Audubon Society the mural must include a native bird.
