Minor in Studio Art

If you have a passion for a specific media area, such as ceramics, printmaking, drawing or electronic art, you can tailor your coursework to your particular interests, allowing for a deep and meaningful paractice in your chosen form.
Minor Requirements
The minor in Studio Art requires twelve credit hours of coursework and is open to students in any major. Only coursework with a C- or better will count towards the completion of the minor. There is no approval process; to start simply register for classes.To complete the minor, students must take- Two eligible courses at the foundation level (6 credit hours) and
- Two studio-based art courses at the 2300 level or higher (6 credit hours).
Students need to meet with an Art Advisor to be placed into upper-level courses.No more than 3 credit hours of Non-major studio art courses will count towards the minor. Eligible foundations level courses include ART1201 (2D Foundations), ART1203 (3D Foundations), ART1300 (Drawing Foundations), or ART1602 (Digital Foundations).Suggested Coursework for Minor
Media InterestsFor students interested in a specific media course—such as Ceramics, Photography, Printmaking, Painting, Sculpture, Book Arts, Electronic Art, Moving Image, or Drawing—we recommend starting with the appropriate foundations coursework before advancing into media-area classes.
