‘Researching Imperialism and the Diaspora with Alexia Benavent-Rivera’ is featured in Suboart Magazine Nr. 47 & 48, an international art magazine for emerging artists. She is one of 55 artists chosen from more than 16 countries to be included in this publication.
In the artists’ words, “My work shines a light on the Banana Wars in Central and South America, a time of brutal greed and American imperialism that too often gets brushed under the rug.”
Benavent-Rivera’s work is deeply influenced by her multicultural heritage, the repercussions of the Banana Wars, and material exploration across a range of disciplines that include ceramics, fiber, installation, and performance art.
