Anne Stagg is an Assistant Professor at the Florida State University. She served as the Director of the BFA Studio Art Program from 2008 until 2012. She currently teaches undergraduate and graduate level classes in the areas of critique, drawing, design, professional practices and foundations. She received her MFA from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2000 and began her academic career at the University of Alabama in Birmingham the same year. There she taught painting and drawing. During her time in Birmingham, she also worked on educational outreach components for a non-profit arts organization called Space One Eleven. This experience led her to start a non-profit teaching gallery called Blue Shirt Project to help provide a hands-on, professional practices learning environment for her students at UAB. Stagg has exhibited her work nationally and internationally and is the recipient of many awards including a grant in 2013 to support the development of her painting series, Unintended Consequences. Stagg’s artwork has long been influenced by connections between self, family, community, place, and a desire for broad cultural engagement. She maintains a studio in Tallahassee, Florida where she lives with her husband, son, and dog.
