Mary Stewart was a keynote speaker and organizer for last week’s Creating Minds for the Future: An UNconference hosted at Seneca College in Toronto, Canada. 17 Universities and Colleges in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) were represented. Mary made it possible for me to attend through a Fullbright (I currently teach at the Ontario College of Art and Design – OCADu)
The participants broke out into 5 predetermined groups. Access to the group’s materials could be found on Blackboard. The groups came together 3 times to discuss pedagogical strategies each guided by a facilitator who had attended Think Tank conferences in the past. The groups worked enthusiastically and collaboratively. It was amazing to see the parallels in discussions when we came together again to share. Generous meal times meant great opportunity to connect with other educators and a technology sandbox was an exciting way to see the future of technology in the classroom!
Voted best conference ever unanimously by all of the attendees that I spoke with. Looking forward to the next one!
