Spring Graduating Artists Recap

Published May 20, 2018

Nathan Hendrickson, MFA

April 13th marked the opening night of the spring Graduating Artists exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts. This end of semester exhibition serves as an exciting end-of-program conclusion for BFA and MFA students in the Department of Art.

There is probably no happier show in any artist’s career than a celebratory exit show. Graduating Artists is an assembly of solo exhibitions by those students who are attaining their BFA or MFA degrees after arduous yet productive studio work at Florida State University. No restrictions on scale or media are imposed and the student showcase is of young professionals launching into their futures.

My final thesis was a test. It was a test to my body, heart, and mind. Listening to stories is incredibly imperative in our bifurcated, divided milieu. Through song, text, movement and multi-media installation, my work attempted to capture, by way of analogy, the skein of several stories. A story of the body, a story of death, a story of violence, and the elusive desire for transcendence from it all.-Nathan Hendrickson, MFA

We congratulate these artists for their dedication, creativity, and thank them for representing The Arts at Florida State University so well. Best of luck in all your endeavors:
