FSU Department of Art MFA ’18, Sharon Norwood, explores the relationship between race and identity within her art practice. On February 4, 2016, she will be among two other artist who’s works will be featured at the Art after 5 event at Courtyard at the Ringling Underground in Sarasota Florida. Sharon will be showing two pieces from her ROKTOWA series, created during an artist residency in downtown Kingston, Jamaica. Working closely with the local Rosetown potters, Norwood formed a personal relationship with the residents. “Andy” and “Shenice” were created in unconventional studio settings and are based on the exchange of dialogue and culture with two of the residents.
