3125 HIGHWAY 28

The Border Art Residency, a non-profit organization affiliated with the El Paso Community Foundation, offers a selected artist a period of retreat for creative work in a spacious living/studio space in the border region.Resident artists are provided with a fully furnished living/working space, a monthly stipend of $600, and all utilities paid (except phone and Internet).

The next open residency period is from August 1, 2018 to May 31, 2019. Applications will be accepted until February 2, 2018; the selected artist will be notified by May 2018. We strongly encourage applicants to contact us close to the application period in order to receive further information.

Resident artists are expected to be at the Border Art Residency no later than September 1st. Although it is understood that artists may travel and have exhibits out of town during the time of the residency, resident artists are expected to attend one event in the fall (September/October), and one in the spring (March/May) in order to support efforts by the Board of Directors to raise funds and promote the Border Art Residency. The specific dates for these events will be provided ahead of time.

Some residents find it necessary to supplement the stipend with part-time work. While we cannot guarantee employment, we are happy to provide the names of department chairs at area universities and community colleges for those who qualify for college teaching.

No children or pets are allowed in the space (except for short visits)  and we request that artists and guests refrain from smoking indoors.

Selection is made by a panel of nationally recognized artists and arts professionals. Because the selection committee members are far-removed from each other, we request that the application be submitted digitally via email. Photos of artwork should be 300 DPI JPEGS and sent with the email application.

We request application materials be sent via email to
