FacilitiesWhy “Digital Media” and not “Graphic Design”?

Digital Media is integrated into the department majors: BA, BFA, and MFA in Studio Art. While our curriculum focuses on contemporary art outcomes, technical aspects pertaining to 21st century graphic design education are incorporated into web-based interactive art and design, digital animation, typography, book arts/printmaking, and photography courses. Because we focus on creative content and critical thinking as much as skills in an intense interdisciplinary environment, these students are finding their own unique voices and learning ways to be effective in the world through their visual and conceptual intelligence, blending design and the fine arts in their relationship to the contemporary world.

The Department of Art currently occupies 4 on-campus buildings and 2 off-campus facility sites that are available for undergraduate and graduate students.
