Department: The Florida State University, College of Fine Arts is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Press Manager of Small Craft Advisory Press (SCAP). The position is a full time A&P Staff position with benefits.

SCAP is a collaborative book arts press that uses a range of technologies to create artist book editions that push the traditions of the book. SCAP books are collected nationally and internationally. SCAP is part of the Facility for Arts Research.

Position to begin late spring or early summer.

Responsibilities:

In coordination with SCAP Director:

  • Day-to-day operations of Small Craft Advisory Press (SCAP)
  • Maintain equipment including Vandercook Proof Presses
  • Manage and supervise students and interns
  • Oversee and produce SCAP editions including binding and printing
  • Assist with coordinating artists visits, including pre and post planning
  • Maintain web presence for SCAP including social media
  • Assist with SCAP archive
  • Other activities related to the daily operations of SCAP and FAR

Qualifications

Bachelors degree and two years experience minimum. Must be a skilled letterpress printer and binder with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite. Candidate should have an interest in contemporary tools such as laser cutting, CNC routing and 3D printing. Candidate should be able to run, manage, and maintain printing press and binding equipment, including Vandercook Proof Presses.

Preferred:

BA, BFA or MFA in book arts or equivalent, with expertise in letterpress and bookbinding

Pay Plan

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
