Michelle McKnight Davis was born in Austin, Texas and raised in various cities along the Rocky Mountain range. She received her BFA from the University of Alabama, a M.Ed. from Middle Tennessee State University, and her MFA from Florida State University.
Michelle’s paintings represent her analysis of the history of art and its influence on society inspired by literature, memes, culture, and religious art. Her portraits and wallscapes combine fragments of Renaissance and Baroque.
Michelle has exhibited in galleries and museums across the United States including being awarded a part in the Artist in Residence of Judy Chicago and Donald Woodman that culminated in a group show at Vanderbilt University. Michelle currently teaches drawing and three-dimensional design at the University of North Alabama as well as an online course, “Contemporary Art; Practices and Scholarship” at Florida State University.
