Internship Opportunity at Master Craftsman Studio

Published July 6, 2018

The James T. Gary Foundation is working in collaboration with FSU Master Craftsman Studio to offer a full scholarship to one student for a three credit hour internship, Fall 2018 semester.   This opportunity is open to any student of the College of Fine Art currently enrolled in their junior or senior year.  Please remember to include a cover letter and a letter of reference with your application.

MCS is a mixed media studio creating custom artwork to serve the needs of commercial, residential, health care, and hospitality clients as well as Florida State University.  The student awarded this scholarship will have the opportunity to work with us on our current installations, as well as attend project planning meetings, client meetings, and assist with special events.  The student may also have the opportunity to research and develop new processes while documenting each step.

Responsibilities:  The student intern will be assisting and supporting our staff artists in our current projects.  From attending initial design meetings to working on finishing details, to shadowing an artist and learning a variety of processes. This will vary with each project, but you will have the opportunity to both contribute skills as well as learn. Students are required to keep a detailed journal of their experience here, including process photos.
