FSU Art MFA ’19 Colleen Itani will attend the Luminous Bodies Residency at Artscape Gibraltar Point in Toronto, Canada. This residency will take place in July 2017.
Luminous Bodies is a two-week residency to create artworks that shed new light on the human body. Its goal is to reinvent and re-present the body in most inclusive and diverse ways. Visual and textual references, guest artist talks, gallery tours, and studio visits by members of the local art community help uncover how our bodies are culturally and aesthetically constructed, displayed and controlled. The essence of Luminous Bodies is about bringing to light heterogeneous bodies.
The Exceptional Opportunity Award from the Department of Art helps Colleen to ease some of the financial burden directly associated with the cost of attending this residency. Over the two week period, Colleen will create new work, meet and network with other artists, and participate in several educational lectures and workshops.
