The Department of Art offers undergraduate programs (BA, BFA) in Studio Art, and a graduate program at the MFA level in Studio Art. The department, comprised of 23 active full time faculty and approximately 12 adjunct faculty, maintains a strong interdisciplinary focus through a wide range of emerging and traditional art practices, while also offering concentrations in ceramics, digital arts, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture. Current enrollment is approximately 460 undergraduates, including 55 BFAs, and 31 graduate students. Both BFA and MFA programs provide students large personal studios and exhibition spaces.

The Department of Art at Florida State University (FSU) welcomes applications for a dynamic leader to direct a vibrant and forward-thinking program with a national reputation for excellence. We seek an artist/educator with a proven record of strong administrative experience. The candidate will guide our acclaimed program through active faculty development, student recruitment, academic planning, faculty evaluation, promotion and tenure, facilities use, budgeting and allocation of resources, and promotion of the department. The Chair is responsible for providing a shared vision and leadership, advocating effectively for the department within and outside the university, and encouraging collaborative interdisciplinary programming.
An MFA is required.
