Call for Entries: Whitespace Gallery’s 5th Annual Film Night

Whitespace Gallery’s 5th Annual Film Night, titled Short Shorts 2017, is seeking short films (8 minutes or less) that address truth for its August 19th event. Genres accepted include documentary, narrative or experimental. Some topics that might be addressed include:

  • constructive ambiguity
  • objectivity
  • predictive histories
  • perception management
  • parallel space
  • brainwashing
  • artificial intelligence
  • virtual reality
  • fact-checking
  • self-confirming feedback loops
  • psychedelic consciousness
  • post-political governments
  • causality and correlation
  • managed outcomes
  • Bayesian belief networks
  • reframing the narrative
  • optics
  • non-linear wardare
  • shape shifting
  • hypernormalization
  • simplify, revise, over-simplify

Short Shorts 2017 will be curated by FSU Art MFA ’92 Ruth Dusseault, a filmmaker, photographer, installation artist and writer whose experimental documentary work explores utopian expresses as they reflect current histories. Her work has been shown at Ethnografilm Paris, Atlanta Independent Film Festival, Chelsea College of Art London, Boston Center for the Arts, Houston Center for Photography, Bemis Center for the Arts, Emory University, High Museum of Art, Dashboard Art Gallery and New Orleans Museum of Art. She has curated exhibitions for the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, the District of Columbia Art Center and the Carnegie Museum of Art.

The deadline for submissions is July 23rd, 2017. Submissions may be made via Film Freeway, WithoutABox and FestHome.
