This is an exhibition of selfies accompanied by statements by the artists/photographers that reflect on the image and/or something the artist cares about and wants to share with the world.
Photographers/artists may submit up to three images, each of which should be accompanied by a separate statement.
The exhibition has two parts: a virtual exhibition, which is non-juried, and a physical exhibition, which will be juried, with exhibitors being chosen from the submissions to the virtual exhibit. Photographers’/artists’ selfies, in the context of this exhibition, may include the “normal” photographic selfie or may be a traditional self portrait in any medium, photographed for the virtual exhibition, which if selected must be shipped at the artist’s expense to the location of the physical, juried exhibition, to be held at Florida State University. Photographic selfies and statements selected for the physical juried exhibition will be printed on site at FSU at no cost to the photographer.
The juried exhibition will be selected from entries to the virtual exhibition by a panel of four artists/educators/museum professionals. The virtual site will continue to be active indefinitely but the deadline for entries to the virtual site for artists/photographers who wish to be considered for the juried exhibition is July 31.
