Phyllis Straus Gallery is pleased to offer an exhibition opportunity for current BA & BFA students. Two or more artists are invited to submit a unique project proposal for the FSU BFA Gallery’s space in the Phyllis Straus Gallery. This platform allows undergraduate students the opportunity to realize specific projects while utilizing an exhibition space which is on view for the show’s duration, March 9 – March 30. There are four white walls, two with magnetic capability. Lighting and electrical are available on site. It is recommended to visit the space. The criteria for the proposals should include strength of vision and artistic merit based on relevant completed works. Please submit a detailed proposal by Thursday, February 1st at 11:59PM
Submissions should include the project narrative, describing in detail, the essentials of your project. How will you plan to carry it out successfully? Your narrative should include the design, materials, dimensions, goals, and implementation plan. It is important to keep in mind how the project will function in a highly visible space. Provide a thorough description of what you are trying to achieve. Provide a brief and concise artist statement and provide between 6-12 images of the proposed project using sketches or digital renderings. Depending on the scope of the work, use your best judgement about the level of detail required to accurately present the project to the selection panel. Also, provide 3-5 examples of past work, which demonstrate your ability to complete the proposed project. It is important to present relevant work samples in terms of similar content, medium(s), and scale. The Phyllis Straus Directors will convene to review, evaluate proposed projects, and develop the exhibition timelines. You will be notified on Feb. 5, 2017 of your proposal’s status.
