Appalachian State University Seeks Curatorial Specialist for Smith Gallery

The Gallery Coordinator will direct and manage all aspects of the Smith Gallery, the Catherine Walling Student Gallery, and the Visiting Artist, Designer, and Professional program of the Art Department. Critical duties include working with faculty, staff, and students to administer the galleries to facilitate exhibitions and programs which will range from student exhibitions to programs with internationally recognized artists. The Coordinator will strategize, plan, coordinate, and carry out the exhibition schedule and manage the gallery budget, facilities and external communications. Additionally, this person will administer the Art Department Visiting Artist, Designer, and Professional program. The Coordinator also mentors students—training and preparing students for the installation of their shows; trains and supervises student workers; and conducts workshops on professional practices for artists.

Depending on the candidates credentials, there will be the possibility of teaching in addition to coordinating the Gallery.
