Amy Fleming in Shrill Relish and Other Stories

Published March 3, 2015

Amy Fleming in Shrill Relish and Other StoriesFSU Art Adjunct Faculty Amy Fleming’s solo exhibition “Shrill Relish and Other Stories” opens this Saturday, March 7 at the Atlantic Center for the Arts alt_space Gallery in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

In Amy Fleming’s words:
“I have spent years combing the woods of North Florida, where people still drag their old appliances out to be used as target practice and then left to disintegrate. The decay process changes the shape, color, and texture of each item, yet through years of exposure to cold, rain, heat and fire they still maintain some aspect of the original object.

These longs walks have given me a large collection of found objects, which I have been combining with prints in a series of assemblages, dioramas and installations. As a print maker, I am experimenting with ways in which prints can move beyond the bounds of the traditional two dimensional edition and into three dimensions. Throughout this research, I have been discovering connections between print processes, found objects, and the three dimensional structure.”
