FAR Lateral Media Studio
The FAR Lateral Media Studio is a competitive, limited-access thematic workshop experience for selected junior and senior students majoring in art or design. This transmedia class will focus on aspects of emerging technologies related to making and distributing, performing art research and critical inquiry, and developing a single semester-long art/design/making project with the opportunity for collaboration. Topics are offered on a rotating basis, and are developed exclusively for students selected for the course. The topic for Spring 2012 is “light” and will be taught by Chad Eby. Apply Now
International Programs
Art students are provided many study abroad opportunities through FSU International Programs. With opportunities to work closely with faculty from the Department of Art, Department of Art History, and other institutions, our students benefit from a broad range of related course offerings including art, design, and art history in numerous locations worldwide.
Internships in Art and Design
Internships are strongly encouraged for students participating in the design program. An internship is an opportunity for a student to have an experiential leaning opportunity in the field while earning credit hours.
Master Craftsman Program
The Master Craftsman Program introduces students from a range of academic disciplines (including Art, Theatre, Film, Anthropology, Engineering, Art Education, and Interior Design) to specialized techniques in advanced molding and casting, state-of-the-art equipment and materials, methods in glass and metal, and design and construction of architectural elements, as well as professional business practices.
